Americans already have socialized medicine. It is called Medicare. We already cover the elderly age 65 and older. People are concerned about the long lines for the doctor as being the same as waiting in line at the unemployment office. Do you really think that socialized medicine will make the lines shorter? I would say think again.There are several myths about socialized medicine mentioned in Cato's article. Here are a few.

Right to Health Care
The right to health care does not mean that you have the right to all health care services. You do not have the right to heart surgery, or the right to a place in the waiting line. If you are the 100th person waiting for heart surgery, other people can get in front of you. (Goodman) Hospitals love cash paying patients because this adds cash to their budget.

Higher quality
In Britian where it is believed to be the envied health system of the world, sacrifices quality for quantity. A friend of mine, a US citizen, was living in England for a little over a year. She went to the doctor, waited for an hour, barely got diagnosed, was given a prescription and sent home. Two days later there was no improvement in her condition, went back to the doctor to get a different prescription because she was misdiagnosed. Canadian and British doctors see 50% more patients than american doctors do, and as a consequence, they have less time to spend with each patient. (Goodman)

According to reports,

Chin rejected a request by Madoff's lawyer for leniency and said he disagreed that victims of the fraud were seeking mob vengeance.

"Here the message must be sent that Mr. Madoff's crimes were extraordinarily evil and that this kind of manipulation of the system is not just a bloodless crime that takes place on paper, but one instead that takes a staggering toll," Chin said.

The judge said the estimate that Madoff has cost his victims more than $13 billion was conservative because it did not include money from feeder funds.

I just found out today that my boyfriend use to enter his dogs at dog shows. He has Akitas and his female Akitas use to win first place in the shows. I was so amazed. Not only did he win trophies for his martial arts but his dogs won trophies too.
